I was working at Redcar on Bank Holiday Monday and the feature event, the Zetland Gold Cup, produced a thrilling finish between Liberty Coach and See That Storm with the former prevailing by a nose. As discussed in a previous post, I caught up with a few connections, including Tom Marquand and will pass on his views regarding Crown of Oaks, who was surprisingly beaten in the one mile maiden stakes, in the Royal Ascot Update next month. Tom also told me that the horse featured on page 10 of AOTF is back in full work and ought to be reappearing shortly.
Whilst at the Teesside track, two reliable sources informed me that Richard Fahey unleashes a potentially exciting juvenile at Hamilton (2.00) on Wednesday. The stable have yet to send out a two year old winner in 2025 and the prevailing dry ground hasn't helped. However, Storm Force, who is a colt by Starspangledbanner, has had an 'away day' and expected to go close. Owned by Wathnan Racing and bought for 230,000gns at the breeze-ups last month, he will hopefully book his ticket to Royal Ascot.
Talking of the Royal fixture, it is possible to order the Ahead On The Flat Royal Ascot Update via the Publications section of the site. The Update is £10 and will be emailed to clients on Sunday 15th June.
