One Jump Ahead arrived from the printers on Friday afternoon and orders will be sent out from early next week. Thank you very much to those who have already purchased a copy and the Updates. If you haven't already done so, please head to the Publications section of the site.

Following 32mm of rain, the second day of Newmarket's Cambridgeshire meeting was run on soft/heavy ground with 27 non-runners. Not for the first time, Ryan Moore dominated proceedings with a treble, including the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes aboard the Ballydoyle trained Bubbling. Unlucky in running at Leopardstown last time, the No Nay Never filly made no mistake here responding well to pressure before pulling away in the closing stages. A two and a quarter lengths scorer, she looks Fillies' Mile material over an extra furlong at the same track (11th October).

While it was disappointing to see Military Academy lose his unbeaten record in the Listed Godolphin Stakes later on the same card, I thought the three year old still ran well in second. A dual novice stakes winner, the John and Thady Gosden runner travelled well into the contest and held every chance entering the dip. No match in the end for the more experienced Royal Ascot winner Burdett Road, he ought to have learned plenty and remains a promising youngster for next year. They were tough conditions on the Rowley Mile for a horse who had only raced twice and it was a major step up in grade.

All the selections at Newmarket on Saturday in the Autumn Update currently stand their ground, including the trio in the Cambridgeshire Handicap. At the time of writing, four horses have already been pulled out of the nine furlongs cavalry charge and Thady Gosden has indicated ante-post favourite Roi De France is unlikely to line up following the deluge of rain over the last few days. I am working at Haydock Park on Saturday, where it promises to be even more testing, but will be keeping an eye on proceedings at HQ. Fingers crossed we can have some success.
