James Owen's juvenile hurdlers have been in terrific form during the Autumn and East India Dock made a winning start to his new vocation at Wincanton on Sunday. Featured in the Changing Codes section of One Jump Ahead, the half-brother to Burdett Road was transferred from James Fanshawe having won twice on the Flat and reaching a mark of 89. Well supported on his hurdles bow, Sam Twiston-Davies' mount raced prominently and jumped professional throughout. Quickening clear with the 88 rated Flat racer Hot Fuss, the pair had a good battle before the Gredley Family owned runner pulled away after the last to score by four lengths. A two miles winner on heavy ground on the level, he threatens to be even better on a stiffer track and it would be no surprise to see him bid to emulate his older sibling in a Grade 2 juvenile hurdle at Cheltenham's Paddy Power meeting next month.
Don't forget to order the One Jump Ahead Updates, including the November one which features the three day Paddy Power meeting (15th - 17th November). Please go to the Publications section of the site for full details.
