Al Aasy gains Group 2 win at the age of 9

Regular readers of Ahead On The Flat will recall that Al Aasy featured in the Top 40 Prospects in 2020 winning twice, including the Group 3 Bahrain Trophy. The gelded son of Sea The Stars has been a tremendous horse for Shadwell and William Haggas over the years and he gained his first win at Group 2 level at Deauville on Sunday at the age of nine. Leading in the dying strides under Pierre-Charles Boudot, he prevailed by a short neck. It was a fourteenth career win from 33 races - he has won one Group 2, eight Group 3 races and three Listed events and earned in excess of £830,000 in total prize-money. Stablemate Hamish is aged ten and has won 15 of his 29 races earning £981,635 in prize-money. Understandly, everyone at Somerville Lodge is immensely proud of the pair - they are two remarkable horses who have been expertly handled.
