The cancellation of the first day of the Dublin Racing Festival on Saturday has thrown things into confusion as far as the February Update is concerned. The plan was to email it to customers on Monday and that is still the intention. Saturday's card has been transferred to Monday but much depends now on whether Sunday's action gets the go ahead - there is an inspection at 8.00am. I will therefore update plans on Sunday once we know what is happening with regard to the action at Leopardstown.
Despite the fact there was Grade 1 action at Sandown Park and the opening day of Musselburgh's Trials meeting, I must confess it didn't set the pulse racing. Neverthless, congratulations to everyone concerned with Sixmilebridge who was providing Fergal O'Brien with his fourth Grade 1 winner and Kielan Woods' first. The Irish raiders, Kitzbuhel and Kala Conti didn't jump well enough with the former parting company with Paul Townend at the sixth fence in front of the stands, while the latter couldn't never land a blow following a number of sticky leaps.
Don't forget, there is still plenty of time to order a copy of the February Update - please head to the Publications section of the site. I have had a look at some of the handicaps at the forthcoming Cheltenham Festival and nominated a few suggestions at healthy prices. As discussed, there is an interview with Warren Greatrex who is responsible for a leading contender for next week's William Hill Hurdle at Newbury, plus some exciting four year olds currently residing at Rhonehurst in Lambourn.
