Subcribers to the Royal Ascot Update will recall that the lightly raced Wigmore Street was advised @ 25/1 for the Royal Hunt Cup. Unfortunately, the Coolmore owned four year old swerved the meeting but gained ample compensation when coming late and fast to claim the Irish Cambridgeshire under Ryan Moore at the Curragh on Saturday. Sent off 22/1, the Joseph O'Brien trained runner was still last with a couple of furlongs to run. Switched to the stands side, the American Pharoah gelding thundered home to lead on the line prevailing by a head. I hope some clients remembered the name.
Another name who featured in the Royal Ascot Update was the unraced Flight (5/6) who was touted as Ollie Sangster's most talented juvenile. Runner-up on her first two starts at Newbury and Newmarket, the daughter of Siyouni got off the mark at the third attempt at Sandown on Saturday. Partnered by Oisin Murphy, she put her experience to good use and dictated throughout. Pushed clear to register a four lengths win in the seven furlongs fillies' maiden stakes, she looks ready for a rise in class. Perhaps something like the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes at Newmarket (11th October) could be a possible target.
Please head to the Publications section of the site to order the Autumn Update, which will be emailed to clients on Thursday 26th September. The Update concentrates on the major end of season events, including the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe and the Autumn double - the Cambridgeshire & Cesarewitch.
I am continuing to work on the new edition of One Jump Ahead - thank you very much to those clients who have pre ordered the book and Updates, it is much appreciated. The response has been superb and subscribers are evidently looking forward to the jumpers getting into full swing in the Autumn. Please go to the Publications section to order your copy, if you haven't already.
